    Ruturaj Gaikwad to Lockie Ferguson: List of players to get ruled out with injuries in IPL 2025

    1. Allah Ghazanfar (Mumbai Indians)

    The Afghanistan spinner whose services were acquired by the Mumbai Indians for a fee of INR 4.80 crore at the 2025 IPL auction, was soon ruled out of the entire tournament due to a vertebrae fracture. Ghazanfar was replaced by feloow Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb-ur-Rahman.

    2. Lizaad Williams (Mumbai Indians)

    The South Africa pacer was acquired by the Mumbai Indians for a fee of INR 75 lakh. Williams made a name for himself in the 2023/24 season of SA20, picking up 15 wickets in just 9 matches for the Joburg Super Kings. However, he got ruled out of IPL 2025 with a knee injury and was replaced by South Africa all-rounder Corbin Bosch.

    3. Umran Malik (Kolkata Knight Riders)

    The India pacer was acquired by the Kolkata Knight Riders for a fee of INR 75 lakh at the 2025 IPL auction. It was expected that Umran will be able to revive his career through his stint with last season’s winners, however disaster struck ahead of the beginning of the 2025 campaign. The seamer was ruled out of the tournament due to a back injury and was replaced by Chetan Sakariya.

    4. Mohsin Khan (Lucknow Super Giants)

    The Lucknow Super Giants pacer was retained by the franchise for INR 4 crore ahead of the 2025 IPL auction. Mohsin had been one of the franchise’s best bowlers in the previous seasons, so he was indeed quite an important player for them. However, the left-armer ended up getting ruled out of the tournament due to an unspecified injury and was replaced by Shardul Thakur.

    5. Brydon Carse (Sunrisers Hyderabad)

    The left-arm England pacer was acquired by the Sunrisers Hyderabad for a fee of INR 1 crore at the 2025 IPL auction. Carse could have massively strengthened the Hyderabad-based franchise’s bowling attack, however ended up getting ruled out ahead of the season due to a toe injury and was replaced by South Africa all-rounder Wiaan Mulder.

    6. Glenn Phillips (Gujarat Titans)

    The New Zealand all-rounder was acquired by the Gujarat Titans for a fee of INR 2 crore at the 2025 IPL auction. Phillips could have been quite a valuable asset for the Gujarat-based franchise, however he got ruled out of the season due to a groin injury. He was replaced by Sri Lanka all-rounder Dasun Shanaka.

    7. Ruturaj Gaikwad (Chennai Super Kings)

    The Chennai Super Kings skipper was retained by the franchise for a fee of INR 18 crore ahead of the 2025 IPL auction. Gaikwad was one of the most important players in the CSK squad and ended up sustaining an elbow fracture in the middle of the season which saw him get ruled out of the tournament. He got replaced by 17-year-old teenage batter Ayush Mhatre.

    8. Adam Zampa (Sunrisers Hyderabad)

    The Australia spinner was acquired by the Sunrisers Hyderabad for a fee of INR 2.40 crore at the 2025 IPL auction. Zampa could have strengthened the Hyderabad-based franchise’s bowling attack by a big margin, however he got ruled out of the season due to an unspecified injury and was replaced by uncapped India batter Smaran Ravichandran.

    9. Lockie Ferguson (Punjab Kings)

    The New Zealand seamer was acquired by the Punjab Kings for a fee of INR 2 crore at the 2025 IPL auction. Ferguson played a few matches for the Punjab-based franchise and also picked up a decent number of scalps for the side. However, he soon got ruled out of the season due to a hamstring injury and his replacement has not been decided yet.

    10. Gurjapneet Singh (Chennai Super Kings)

    The uncapped India pacer was acquired by the Chennai Super Kings for a fee of INR 2.20 crore at the 2025 IPL auction. Gurjapneet could have been a vital player for the side in the bowling department, however was ruled out of the tournament due to an unspecified injury and was replaced by South Africa batter Dewald Brevis.
