In an unsurprising move, U.S. President Donald Trump has exempted tech such as smartphones from the tariffs. This eliminates the possibility of the $3,000 iPhone, but it’s not a time for Apple to rest on its laurels. The company is still making preparations for the uncertain times ahead.

After flying in planes full of iPhones into the State to avoid the kick-off date of the tariffs, the company is still hard at work to prevent future financial hardship. Because of this, its rival in the smartphone space could actually see an influx of cash.

Samsung Display could profit from Apple’s fight against the tariffs

Apple is ramping up production of its iPhones and trying to bring over as many units as it can. As such, the company is ramping up production of iPhone units. It actually raised its Q2 2025 production target by 15%. Since it’s building more iPhones, it will need more components— like displays.

Enter Samsung Display! As you may know, Samsung is one of the biggest smartphone display makers and a key supplier for iPhones. Apple is one of Samsung Display’s biggest customers, making up more than 40% of the company’s revenue, according to some analysts. Bear in mind that Apple makes up a large part of Samsung Display’s revenue, not Samsung as a whole.

So, it looks like Apple will need many more displays, and Samsung Display will be the company to provide. Since Apple has increased its target by 15%, Samsung Display is set to get a nice boost in revenue. It’s not the only company that provides displays to Apple, but it’s the biggest one.

There’s no telling what’s going to happen in the long run with the tariffs and economic headwinds. However, all we know is that there will probably be more stories like this in the future.
