India star pacer fires back at Mohammad Kaif on workload criticism: ‘Inaccurate again’

A star fast bowler hits back at a former player on social media, calling claims about his strategy and workload ‘inaccurate’.

India star pacer Jasprit Bumrah has responded to former cricketer Mohammad Kaif’s comments on his workload management, denying the claims as inaccurate.

On Thursday evening, Mohammad Kaif expressed concern about Jasprit Bumrah’s workload in white-ball cricket. Referring to the Asia Cup, he stated that under Suryakumar Yadav’s captaincy, Bumrah bowled three overs with the new ball instead of being preserved for the death overs.

“Bumrah under Rohit would generally bowl overs 1, 13, 17, 19. Under Surya, in Asia Cup, he bowled a three-overs spell at the start. To avoid injury, Bumrah these days, prefers to bowl while his body is warmed up. 1 over of Bumrah in the remaining 14 overs is a huge relief for batters, against stronger teams at World Cup, this could hurt India,” Kaif wrote on X.

Jasprit Bumrah has now responded to the former India batter’s post, quoting it with a sharp dismissal. “Inaccurate before inaccurate again,” he wrote.

The pacer’s response indicates that he believed Kaif’s assessment of his bowling strategy was not only erroneous this time, but also on previous occasions.

Despite Kaif’s concerns, the selectors have full faith in Bumrah, who has just been added to India’s squad for the two-Test home series against the West Indies, starting October 2 in Ahmedabad.

Ajit Agarkar, chairman of selectors, confirmed that Bumrah is fit and ready following his sabbatical after the England tour.

“This is a team for both the Test matches. So, he (Jasprit Bumrah) is available for both. We’ve had a fair break after England (series). He didn’t play the fifth Test either. There’s been a month or five weeks of break,” Ajit said.
