Last CES 2025, Razer previewed a software that is set to revolutionize the PC gaming experience for the mobile gaming platform, and earlier this month, the company finally gave the world the PC Remote Play app to enjoy.
There are multiple steps needed to set up this new remote PC gaming experience for mobile devices, but it can potentially deliver a seamless experience to users who want to take their experience mobile.
Razer PC Remote Play: How to Enjoy PC Games on Mobile
Razer has ensured that its new PC Remote Play experience, which the company showed off during CES 2025, is working well before release, which took them a long time to run via the beta. That being said, the company took the gaming world by storm with the new PC Remote Play app, which brings the PC gaming experience right to mobile devices.
This new feature from Razer takes the PC experience to the mobile platform, and this offers a similar experience as the PlayStation Remote Play platform that beams the gameplay from the PlayStation console (PS4 and PS5) to smartphones, PCs, and more.
While Sony offered a device that previously made this its exclusive function with the PlayStation Portal, the company later changed it.
What Do You Need For the Razer PC Remote Play?
Despite this announcement only focusing on the PC Remote Play app’s launch, there are different moving parts that are needed to make this work. First off, for the mobile devices on both Android and iOS, users will need to download the PC Remote Play app from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.
Next, there is also the need to install the Razer Nexus app for Android and iOS, which will help in browsing for one’s owned games in the PC, configuration, and launching it via the mobile.
Lastly, users are also required to download and install the Razer Cortex software on the PC to help optimize the games as this will act as the main game launcher that is compatible with the likes of Steam, Epic Games, and Microsoft’s Xbox PC Game Pass.
Should You Use Razer’s PC Remote Play or Cloud Gaming?
Ideally, with all of these apps combined, users would be able to play PC games on their mobile devices given that they own the game and have a good setup on their computers that can handle the load for the remote experience.
According to PC World, their experience on the Razer PC Remote Play required them to be on the same network for their PC and mobile device, but setting up the same Razer account would grant users the ability to play using any connection.
Moreover, Razer recommends the use of the Kishi or Kishi V2 mobile controller to get the full experience thanks to its Sensa HD haptics, but it is not required.
Ideally, this is better than the cloud gaming experience as the PC Remote Play app will bring the game’s aspect ratio to take full advantage of the device’s display and performance, especially for PC purists who want a change of pace.
