This ex-Ralph Lauren-owned, yellow Ferrari F50, valued at over $7.5 million, looks like it’ll break all records to become the most expensive F50 ever sold at auction

If there was ever a time to invest in a Ferrari F50 as a future all-star classic that’ll touch stratospheric values, that time is now. More specifically, before August of this year. That’s when this Giallo Modena Ferrari F50, once owned by fashion mogul Ralph Lauren, hits the auction block. Offered by RM Sotheby’s, the 1995 Ferrari F50’s value is estimated between $6.5 and 7.5 million. That already puts it out ahead of the last most expensive Ferrari F50 ever sold at auction, a $5.5 million US-delivered car sold in 2024.

Lauren’s Ferrari F50 is quite a bit more special than that one, though. Of course, US-delivery F50 supercars are a rare breed as is, with only 55 of the total production run of 349 units making it to America officially. This particular one is also just one of two delivered in Giallo Modena and retains its original paint, a yellow that suits the outlandish styling of the F50 perfectly.

The car remained in Lauren’s care from new till 2003, when it was then sold to its current owner, who has kept it meticulously for the last two decades. This Ferrari F50 has just 5,400 miles on the clock, of which Ralph Lauren is said to have contributed well over half the mileage. It is rare for Lauren to part with collector cars of this stature, which makes something as special as this F50 with his provenance a real rarity. To give you context, Ralph Lauren’s car collection is valued at well over $600 million!

The owners have reportedly only shown the car publicly a handful of times, the last of which is believed to have been in 2009. The F50 has been given a full service with new brakes and tires, including a rectification of the infamous sticky button issue earlier on in its life. We’re pretty sure if this ex-Ralph Lauren F50 hits its mark at auction, it’s going to be preserved as well as it has so far. That makes us both happy and just a little sad that this F50’s V12 might become a showpiece.
